Tom Kerridge blasted for charging £195 for Christmas dinner - and there's no turkey

Tom Kerridge has been slammed for charging £195 for a Christmas dinner for a family-of-four that you have to cook yourself - and it's not even turkey.

The TV chef has been branded 'out of touch' for the eye-watering price amid the cost of living crisis.

Some called it a “rip-off” and a “p*ss take” as Brits are battling sky high inflation and interest rates, while one said it was not within the “price range” of struggling Brits.

The 49-year-old’s Beef Wellington Christmas Box works out at a staggering £48.75 per head.

It comes with a side dish of pigs in blankets and a red wine sauce plus a dessert of sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel fudge - however, there are no potatoes and vegetables with the meal.

Kerridge has appeared on TV shows like Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen.

He runs eight restaurants including the Hand of Flowers and The Coach both in upmarket Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

Taking to Twitter to share their reaction after learning of the Tom's eye-watering Christmas dinner package, outraged social media users hit out at the 'tone deaf' TV chef.

“Obviously no economic crisis in the Home Counties," one tweeted, while another echoed: "The only place this should end up is on rip off Britain. £195 come on chef you’re having a laugh ain’t you.”

While another fumed: “How f***ing much? So for £50 per person you get a slice of beef Wellington and gravy with a dessert and some pigs in blankets? What an absolute p**s take."

“Completely unaffordable to the vast majority but I’m sure some stuck up plebs will live to brag about how much they’ve been ripped off round the table," someone else added.

“Cost of living crisis and there’s nothing like giving people value for money at Xmas. Well done Tom mate. Was genuinely a fan", complained another.

Promoting his pricey Christmas dinner, Kerridge said: “It’s approaching that time of year again guys and I’m super excited to launch this year’s Christmas Beef Wellington Box. For a change from the traditional turkey dinner, or for the ultimate Boxing day feast, this is sure to provide the ultimate indulgent Christmas meal.

“Handmade Beef Wellington, 30-day aged, organic, British beef fillet, wrapped in a Black Truffle Duxelle and Herb Crepé and All Butter Puff Pastry. Accompanied by Pigs in Blankets with a Red Wine Sauce, all you need to do is add your own roast potatoes and veg.

“Followed by delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding with Toffee Sauce and Christmas Spiced Butter."

The TV chef went on: "Everything has been pre-prepared and par-cooked by my team of chefs at Lush by Tom Kerridge. To create the most decadent festive meal simply follow the step-by-step cooking instructions. I’ve also included my recipes for you to make the best roasties and brussel sprouts.”

Tom's website also reads: “Only a limited number of boxes available. Order before 18 November and receive a free gift in your box.

“Per box, generously serves four. Price includes selection of side dishes and delivery to UK mainland only. Delivery date 23 December 2022. No alternative delivery dates available.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any dietary requirements or menu alterations.”

Last year Kerridge was slammed for charging up to £175 for a tiny turkey for up to eight people.

The Mirror has reached out to Tom's representatives for comment.
