Tom Jones announces first Cardiff show in 20 years

Legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones has announced he is coming to Cardiff Castle for his first headline show in the Welsh capital in 20 years. The musical icon will be taking to the castle stage on Friday, July 21 as part of his 'Ages and Stages' tour and makes up part of popular Cardiff-based event organisers DEPOT Live's exciting summer schedule - which also involves music from Bastille, Rag'n'Bone Man, The Lumineers and Blondie.

This announcement follows on from the 'Delilah' singers' succcessful sold-out shows last year in which he supported fellow Welsh musicians Stereophonics in the Principality Stadium.

With his musical career spanning more than six decades, the 82-year-old is sure to perform some of his best hits including It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah, What’s New Pussycat, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and If I Only Knew, and fans of Sir Tom are encouraged to register for tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Voice from Pontypridd back to the Welsh capital this summer; we know it’s something that people have waited a long time for. We can’t think of a more perfect setting for Sir Tom than the castle.”

And it seems he's not the only one ecstatic at this revelation. Fans of the Welsh icon have taken to Twitter and Instagram to voice their excitement.

One Twitter user wrote: "So happy for Wales !! What a party it will be !!", while another on Instagram commented: "What fabulous news for your country men & women. A proud moment, finally."

Tickets for the Cardiff Castle show will go on sale at 10am on Friday, February 10, while presale tickets begin Wednesday, February 8.
