Tom Izzo was asked who could defend Zion Williamson. His answer: ‘Khalil Mack’

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo will have his hands full in the Spartans’ upcoming game against Duke, especially when it comes to defending Duke’s standout forward, Zion Williamson.

In an interview ahead of their Elite Eight game on Sunday (5:05 p.m. ET, CBS) Izzo was asked how his team would approach defending Williamson.

His response was excellent:

Khalil Mack is a guy I look at,” Izzo said, according to Yahoo’s Pete Thamel. “If I could borrow someone from the Bears, maybe we could cover him.”

Khalil Mack is a 6’3″, 247-pound linebacker for the Chicago Bears, and he had 12.5 sacks in the NFL last season.

The sad thing about all this is that Mack might actually be undersized when it comes to guarding Williamson. Williamson is listed at 6’6″, 285 pounds. He should not exist, and yet he exists.

The Bears got in on the fun, too, posting the following tweet:

That actually would be a really good matchup to watch. Make it happen, NCAA/NFL/powers that be. Allow MSU to suit up late transfer student Malil Khack for the game. It’s totally legit.
