Today, Tom Izzo appeared on The Drive with Jack podcast to discuss his friend and MSU football head coach Mark Dantonio. While on the episode, he also told listeners that he has requested immediate availability for Marquette transfer Joey Hauser. Izzo did note that he feels the transfer request is ‘doubtful’ to be fulfilled.
“Our people have put together a good deal and they’ll take a look at it,” Izzo said. “I think they’ll take a look at it in the next week. Right now I don’t think at looks as good, which is a shame because he’s a hell of a player.”
Izzo and his team are banking on a stipulation that could let Hauser play due to an injury he suffered in high school which allowed him to enroll in Marquette early. “We think that there are some legitimate things that Joey went though,” Izzo said.
The former All-Big East Freshmen would add a huge boost to this Spartans team as he’d potentially be a starter for this squad. He averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game last year.
