Tom Izzo is ‘really pleased’ with how Rocket Watts has looked so far in practice

Even if four-star guard Rocket Watts wasn’t ready to contribute this season, Michigan State would still be the team to beat in the Big Ten, and, well, probably the whole NCAA. If Rocket Watts is already good this year though, it could take this team to another level and also help keep Cassius Winston and Joshua Langford fresh until the postseason.

On Thursday, Izzo commented on how happy he was been with Rocket’s game in practices thus far:

“Of all the things I know he can do,” Izzo said, “shoot it is one. He’s been good. He’s really picked up things better than I thought he would. I’m really pleased with Rocket right now.”

This is a really important development because, as we all know, Joshua Langford is coming off a bad ankle injury and Cassius Winston just finished healing from a tweaked hamstring. If Michigan State wants to hit their stride in March and be healthy enough to go for a national title, Izzo will need to spell his two veteran guards with his new combo guard, Rocket Watts.

Watts plays both point guard and shooting guard and if he’s the real deal, it could be the difference-maker for this Michigan State Men’s Basketball team.
