Tom Holland speaks out on Spider-Man leaving the MCU: 'I've had the time of my life'

Tom Holland has broken his silence on Spider-Man’s exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’s been five amazing years," he told Entertainment Weekly magazine at Disney's D23 fan event in Anaheim, California. "I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds?"

He added: "All I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

Holland's comments came after it was announced that the character would no longer appear in Marvel Studios movies after a contractual deal between Disney and Sony, which hold's the rights to Spider-Man’s, had collapsed.

As a result Spider-Man will no longer appear alongside Marvel Studios characters.

“It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said.

However, Holland will nonetheless continue to play Spider-Man.

However, he will first be seen in Onward, his forthcoming Disney/Pixar animated film.
