The highly anticipated new Spider-Man film, Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, has offered a glimpse into Peter Parker's emotionally charged future, revealing that his friends have moved on, with MJ now seemingly in a relationship.
New footage from the upcoming movie was unveiled at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, further fuelling anticipation for one of the summer's most eagerly awaited releases, whose trailer has already broken records.
Holland himself, in a video message to exhibitors, described the film as "the most emotional Spider-Man movie yet" and "the most grown-up." He introduced an early scene depicting the aftermath of his decision at the end of No Way Home.
In a sequence set five years after the previous film, Peter attends a housewarming for MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned, introducing himself as "Maynard … just a neighbour from across the hall."
This fourth standalone adventure for the webslinger follows the monumental success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which became a sensation in cinemas, earning over $1.9 billion globally.
Its impressive box office performance was partly thanks to the appearance of previous Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the film is set to open in cinemas on 31 July.

The unveiling was part of Sony Pictures' broader presentation at CinemaCon, where Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman addressed the wider industry landscape. He predicted an "Olympic level movie year overall" but candidly acknowledged "serious challenges," noting admissions have been down since before the pandemic.
Rothman stressed the importance of studios delivering "a variety of great films for all audiences."
He also made recommendations for cinemas, imploring them to enforce longer theatrical windows "even if that means you cannot play every film," to get rid of "endless advertising" before features, and to make tickets more affordable. Emphasising his supportive stance, Rothman stated: "I’m not heckling," adding, "I’m rooting for you."
Beyond the web-slinger, Sony also announced an R-rated adaptation of the video game Bloodborne. The release date for Grand Gear, the English-language debut from Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki, was also confirmed for 18 February 2028, with filming scheduled to begin soon.
