Everyone’s favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, Tom Holland, has opened up about his incredibly cvnty stint on Lip Sync Battle, where he channelled his inner baddie for our insatiable entertainment.
Many moons ago, Holland and Zendaya broke the internet with their performances on Lip Sync Battle. To give you a mini recap, Zendaya gave us a full Bruno Mars fantasy with silk pyjama jays, a snapback and a chain to the tune of “24K Magic”.
However, Holland GAGGED the entire world with his rendition of “Singing In The Rain”, which quickly turned into a motherquake, with the actor doing a whole Ru-veal to the tune of Rihanna‘s “Umbrella”.

Reflecting on the pop culture shaking moment with comedic legend Amy Poehler on Good Hang, Holland revealed that he gets recognised the most from his “Umbrella” performance more than anything else, including his time as Peter Parker.
“I get more compliments for that dance than any piece of work I have ever done,” Holland shared after Poehler admitted she’d watched the “Umbrella” dance “5,000 times”.
“I’ve probably watched it more than most movies,” the Mean Girls star shared.
“Not only because of the talent, not only because it’s just so funny and fun and great and like, but you guys are also having such a good time together, but it’s a person who is, dare I say, comfortable with their feminine side.”

Poehler went on to express that Holland’s performance in the skimpy black ‘fit truly challenged society’s perspective on masculinity. In response, Holland revealed that his shorts were supposed to be shorter.
“At one point in the dress rehearsal, the lady was like, ‘Do you think we could cut the shorts a little bit short?’ I was like, ‘No’,” Holland revealed before joking that his baddie uniform was “still years ahead of its time”.
Hollan went on to say that he was “really excited” about the dance ahead of performing on Lip Sync Battle, but admitted he was “nervous” at the thought of doing a live show.
“It’s funny, it never really crossed my mind how it would be received,” he shared.
“I just thought, ‘Oh, what a fun idea’. Like, we’ll do this kind of singing in the rain thing, and you felt the energy in the room literally deflate.
“You know everyone in that audience is like 19 years old… I just knew in my body I was like, when I take this suit off, you are going to go nuts.”
And nuts, we did go, Mr Holland!
Holland is currently making the media rounds ahead of his next movie, The Odyssey, which is slated to come in Aussie cinemas on July 17, which will then be followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Hopefully, he can squeeze in one more “Umbrella” dance between press tours!
