TOM Holland has confirmed that the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day blockbuster will return to a "old-school filmmaking" – with filming to begin in Glasgow next month.
Speaking in a recent interview with Flip Your Wig, the Hollywood actor said filming during the pandemic had previously limited their creative freedom — something he is keen to correct this time around.
"It’s going to feel like making Homecoming again ... a breath of fresh air," he said.
Filming is due to begin on August 1, with Glasgow’s city centre being transformed for a “massive set piece”, according to the movie star.
Holland said about returning to the role: “I’m obviously over the moon and so excited.
“Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, and I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie.
"We shot the entire film on stages. Now we’re really going to lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow.
"We are going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”

Glasgow City Council has confirmed:
- Road closures
- Parking bans
- Bus and taxi lane suspensions
- Diversions around key commuter routes
- Pedestrian restrictions during active filming
The shoot is expected to cause delays and congestion across the city for over two weeks, with residents and commuters urged to plan ahead and follow all signage and steward instructions.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day – What We Know So Far
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (who did Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up after the dramatic conclusion of No Way Home, where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save those he loves.
Tom shared: "Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that.
"That’s all I can say.
"That’s all I’ve been allowed to say, and I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don’t you worry: I’m not going to do that today.”
