Tom Hardy returning to CBeebies with his dog for Christmas

CBeebies have announced actor Tom Hardy will, once again, feature on their Bedtime Stories show this festive season.

Much to the delight of animal lovers across the country, the 44-year-old will be joined with his dog as he appears on the channel's Christmas Eve and Christmas Day special

During the episode, The Dark Knight Rises actor and his French Bulldog, Blue, will read story books to viewers including An Odd Dog Christmas by Rob Biddulph on December 24.

Tom, who has been taking part in the story-reading programme since 2016, will tell the story of a dog on the hunt for the perfect present before ultimately realising the true meaning of Christmas.

The following day he will return to the channel for a Christmas Day broadcast to narrate The Christmas Pine by Julia Donaldson.

Julia's picture book follows the true story of how Norway donates a Christmas tree to Britain each year, which is then erected in London’s Trafalgar Square as a symbol of peace.

Tom Hardy became popular on Bedtime Stories after he read a new story each day for a week during lockdown last year.

He recorded the readings from his garden and chose uplifting tales in a bid to keep children entertained while they were locked down at home.

Other famous faces who have taken on the role of bedtime story reader include Ed Sheeran, Dolly Parton, Rege-Jean Page, Chris Evans and David Tennant.

The teaser clip of Tom's return was posted on Cbeebies official Facebook Page and animal lovers went crazy for it.

One user said: "Oh CBeebies you do love to spoil us at Christmas."

While another added: "Brilliant choice of stories. I can't wait to see his pup."

A third commented: "Tom Hardy with a dog! Merry Christmas to me!"

A fourth said: "Tom Hardy and a dog? Happy Christmas everyone!"
