Tom Hanks updates fans on his symptoms one week after coronavirus diagnosis

Tom Hanks has told fans his symptoms "are much the same" one week after testing positive for Covid-19.

The actor and his wife Rita have been in self-isolation after confirming they both had coronavirus.

The Oscar-winning actor was in Australia filming an upcoming Elvis Presley biopic when he started experiencing symptoms and told fans he would be taking it one day at a time.

One week in and the 63-year-old has shared an update with his 8.2million Instagram followers.

He said: "Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch."

Tom kept in good spirits as he then informed fans what he and his wife had been doing to keep themselves busy during self-isolation.

The Hollywood star also made reference to Vegemite after he resparked an age-old debate about how much you should spread on toast earlier in the week.

He added: "Bad news: My wife @ritawilson has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points. But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick.

"I travelled here with a typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx."

It comes after Tom promised to "keep the world posted and updated" following his diagnosis.

In his original post, he wrote: "Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.

"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

"Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed.

"We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?"
