Tom Hanks reunites with Robin Wright and director Robert Zemeckis for 'Here'; Netizens call it 'Forrest Gump Sequel'

Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and director Robert Zemeckis are back together for the upcoming film 'Here'. The first trailer that released online, promises an epic family saga, adapted from Richard McGuire's graphic novel of the same name.

In the clip, Hanks and Wright live out their lives from young adults to an elderly couple. Looking younger than they did even in 'Forrest Gump', their first film together, the film chronicles their lives set in a special house. The official synopsis describes 'Here' as "an original film about multiple families and a special place they inhabit. The story travels through generations, capturing the most relatable of human experiences."

In the film, both lead actors Hanks and Wright are digitally de-aged using an Artificial Intelligence tool called Metaphysic Live, enabling real-time face swaps. Director Zemeckis had previously confirmed this technology during an interaction with Variety.

Fans quickly expressed their enthusiasm, saying in the comments, "Oh guys, you made a film where Forrest and Jenny are finally together as a happily married couple. You made me cry. Thank you so much. You don’t know what it means to a Forrest Gump fan like me to finally see that. It’s so beautiful."

Another commented, "So they de-aged Tom Hanks to how he looked 40 years ago? It kind of looks like a sequel to Forrest Gump had he grown his hair out from the buzz cut."

Reactions varied, with one fan posting on X, "Sounds intriguing. Hopefully, the story keeps the audience engaged because the concept is gonna wear out its welcome a half hour into the film."

In 'Here,' Hanks will portray various ages, from his current age of 67, to a young man, and even an older man in his 80s. The film employs a blend of traditional makeup effects and digital de-aging to achieve these transformations.

With the beloved reunion of Hanks, Wright, and Zemeckis, 'Here' promises to be a cinematic experience unlike any other, evoking nostalgia while presenting a fresh narrative.
