Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's home burgled; couple's guest house ransacked by intruders

Hollywood power couple, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have reportedly fallen victim to a burglary at their upscale Los Angeles residence.

According to TMZ.com, thieves are said to have shattered glass to gain access to the guest house on the property, which they subsequently ransacked. Fortunately, reports state that the culprits failed to breach the main house.

Although the incident occurred "a few weeks ago", it remains unclear what items, if any, were stolen from the house. Police are currently investigating the break-in, but no arrests have yet been made.

This incident comes nearly a year after the couple's son, Chet Hanks, encountered an intruder in his own home. At that time, the suspect reportedly attacked the arresting officers, but Chet was unharmed.

Police officials have suggested that Hanks and Wilson were not specifically targeted in the break-in that is being considered part of an ongoing pattern of home invasions in the area. TMZ has reported that some criminals involved in these robberies have resorted to extreme measures, including tying up victims inside their homes.

On the professional front, Tom, was last seen in the critically acclaimed film 'Asteroid City'. The actor has several exciting projects lined up including Robert Zemeckis' 'Here', a film in which will see him and co-star Robin Wright, digitally de-age using AI-assisted technology. The movie revolves around a room and the events that occur within it over hundreds of thousands of years. Additionally, Hanks will play a pivotal role in Wes Anderson's 'The Phoenician Scheme'.
