Tom Hall's Tavern has closed its doors after going into liquidation

A popular city centre sports bar has closed after going into liquidation.

Tom Hall's Tavern shut its doors last weekend for the final time after falling into financial difficulty.

Customers of the bar were disappointed to learn of its closure when a notice went up on the door from an insolvency firm.

The notice, which was taped to the door, said: "As from Saturday 20th July, 2019 Tom Hall's Tavern LTD company number 09708753 ceased trading and went into voluntary liquidation.

"Any queries please contact Stuart Rathmell Insolvency 01204867615."

The venue on the Strand reopened in 2016 after a £400,000 refurbishment brought it back to life after it lay empty for three decades.

Situated in the old Bentley Building on the corner of Brunswick Street and The Strand, Tom Halls Tavern re-invented itself as a stylish bar and eatery, which held live music and screen sports events.
