Tom DeLonge has detailed the many projects that reportedly prevented him from future commitments with his (potentially) former band Blink-182.

In a number of recent posts on social media, the guitarist has claimed to be working on some lofty new ventures, including the composition of music for EPs which will go alongside novels written by well-known authors.

Since his very public fallout with the famous US punk group, DeLonge has confirmed news of his first solo album – To the Stars … Demos, Odds and Ends - which comes out on 21 April. This now appears to be one of a few: according to one tweet promising “4 albums in one year,” he will put out “2 albums with Angels [his other band, Angels & Airwaves], 2 albums from myself.”

Rather confusingly, three of these albums are also to be released with novels – a project which has been in the works “for a couple years.”

In a post on Instagram – which was later deleted – DeLonge said that this was one of the reasons for his “haywire” relationship with Blink 182.

One of the reasons all this Blink stuff went haywire was because I am in 6 contracts with Best Selling Authors that are co-writing 15 Novels with me personally. Each one has an EP soundtrack that launches with it. I told my manager the contract that was sent to me for the Blink deal contained weird new language that I had to drop all that music for almost a year. I said I couldn’t, but I could record the album in and around those things that were already in the works. He wrote them an email saying I’m out – (I didn’t know- and he was only talking about the deal) next thing you know, a press release saying things I didn’t say. Here we are… Well… Read a fucking book – at least one of mine, please.”

He later clarified that the 15 novels will be gradually released over the next four years.

Blink-182’s remaining members, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, have recruited Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio as a temporary member for their forthcoming live shows.
