Tom Davies transfer latest as Southampton credited with interest in Everton midfielder

Everton are yet to receive any contact from Southampton over the potential loan of Tom Davies despite reported interest.

The Saints have today been credited with wanting to take the 22-year-old midfielder on a season-long loan but the Blues have not held any formal discussions with their Premier League rivals.

Newcastle United were linked with Davies earlier in the window but Everton again made clear that no discussions had taken place.

Davies came off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend of the season but was an unused substitute in the win over West Bromwich Albion.

The Academy graduate, however, played the full 90 minutes against Salford City in the Carabao Cup tie last week and is expected to feature against Fleetwood Town in tomorrow night's third round tie.

When Everton were in talks with Southampton over the potential sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the Saints told the Blues they were interested in a number of players at Goodison, who could have formed part of a player trade.

Hojbjerg would end up joining Spurs, with Kyle Walker-Peters moving in the opposite direction.
