Tom Daley to make decision over future ‘in next few months’ after Paris Olympics hint

Olympic diving champion Tom Daley says he will make a decision over his future in “the next few months” after hinting he could continue on to Paris in 2024.

The 27-year-old claimed a fairytale first Olympic title when winning gold in the men’s 10m synchro event with Matty Lee in Tokyo last month, completing a remarkable journey that began when he competed at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 as a 14-year-old.

Daley also won bronze in the individual event in Tokyo - his fourth Olympic medal in all - in what many expected to be his final Games appearance.

However, in an interview with the BBC, Daley said: “It’s not very long until Paris and one of the things I’ve always said is that I’m going to keep going as long as my body will let me or until I win an Olympic gold medal.

“But now I’ve got my Olympic gold medal I feel like: Well, that felt pretty good, maybe I’ll try it again!

“But for now I’m taking a bit of a break, I want to spend some time with my family, see where life lands me, and we’ll make decisions about moving forward with diving in the next few months, I guess.”
