Tom Daley dubbed 'cute' as he prepared to win Olympic medal by knitting

Tom Daley has had quite the 24 hours after winning his first-ever Olympic gold medal in Tokyo.

The diver shed tears on the podium after he and diving partner Matty Lee won gold medals in the synchronised 10m platform on Monday.

This is Tom's fourth Olympic games after making his debut as a 14-year-old in Beijing before finishing third in the 10m platform in London in 2012 and synchronised 10m platform in Rio in 2016.

But the 27-year-old was thinking ahead to a potential medal win - by knitting his very own 'medal case'.

Tom sent fans crazy earlier this year when he revealed that he crochets his own clothes.

He has been sharing his incredible talent on his dedicated Instagram page, called @madewithlovebytomdaley, after he discovered he is a dab hand at it.

Taking to social media following his incredible win, Tom admitted that knitting and crocheting "has helped me so much through these Olympics."

Writing on his page, he said: "THANK YOU TO ALL MY FELLOW STITCHERS!

"I made a little medal case too! YAY!"

He also shared what he had made on his main Instagram account and said in a video on his Instagram story: "If you've been following me for a while now you'll know that I am a little bit knitting obsessed."

Tom then went on to unveil the cases he knitted for his medal which features the Union Jack on one side and the Japanese flag on the other.

And fans have been loving it.
