Tom Daley drops future hint after winning second medal of Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Tom Daley has suggested that he may compete in the diving events at Paris 2024 after winning bronze in the men's 10 metre platform event at Tokyo 2020.

The bronze is his second medal of the games after he won his first ever Olympic gold in the synchronised 10 metre platform event.

Speaking after his medal winning performance, Daley was forthcoming about his plans for the future.

He said: "I'm definitely going to have a bit of a break, you know a couple of margaritas and just have a little bit of a chill out.

"I'm going to take a bit of a break from diving, but I feel like 2018 was my down year and now I'm on my way back up to feeling better, doing better and my body is doing good, so we'll see."

Daley expressed his happiness and surprise at the success he has enjoyed in Tokyo, after his build-up to the games was interrupted by injury: "I honestly am so happy that this Olympics has gone the way it has.

"I feel like a different athlete. Back at the end of May I tore my meniscus and had knee surgery - I didn’t know if I would make these games!

"If someone told me I would win a gold and a bronze, I probably would have laughed in their face!"

The 27-year-old from Plymouth was keen to emphasise how grateful he is to his coaching staff and family for aiding him in his preparations before and during the Olympic games as he became Team GB's most successful diver.

Daley also paid an emotional tribute to his late father.

He said: "Thank you to everyone at home, and in particular Lance, my husband, who has been my rock throughout this whole thing, and has put up with me and sacrificed so much moving to the UK so I could train.

"My mum, and of course my dad- I wish that my dad was here to have seen me at these Olympic games, winning two Olympic medals; he'd probably be in the pool by now so I'm just so overwhelmed by all the love and support back home."

Daley was pipped in the 10 metre platform event by Yuan Cao and Jian Yang from China who won gold and silver respectively.
