Tom Cruise has revealed two Mission: Impossible films are set to be shot back-to-back and released on consecutive years.
The film star revealed details of the upcoming movies on Twitter, sharing a video of the franchise’s logo with fuses burning at both sides.
He captioned the post: "Summer 2021 and Summer 2022."
Christopher McQuarrie will be returning to direct the films. He previously worked on 2015's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, and last year's Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
McQuarrie, who is also working with Cruise on the upcoming Top Gun sequel, tweeted to confirm his involvement. He wrote: "Missions: Accepted #MissionImpossible."
Fallout was a commercial success and grossed $791 million (£614 million) worldwide, a record for the franchise and Cruise.
Mission: Impossible is an action movie franchise based on agent Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise.
The first film arrived in 1996 while Fallout was the sixth instalment.
Cruise, 56, famously performs his own stunts in the films and broke his ankle while filming scenes for Fallout.
