Tom Cruise preps 'Mission: Impossible' like stunt for Paris Olympics closing ceremony; to pass flag to USA for 2028 games

Tom Cruise is gearing up for his next 'mission'. Buzz is that the Hollywood superstar is set to engineer an epic stunt to close out the Paris Olympics and hand over the Olympic flag to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.

Sources with direct knowledge have revealed to TMZ that the plan for the upcoming closing ceremony, involves Tom rappelling down from the top of Stade de France, landing on the stadium field, and carrying the official Olympic flag.

The report further reveals that TV broadcast will then cut to a previously recorded film, showcasing Tom in an airplane, flying with the Olympic flag from France to Los Angeles. In a thrilling sequence, he will skydive down to the iconic Hollywood sign.

The Hollywood sign stunt was actually filmed back in March, when the actor was seen at the famous sign. Interestingly, at the time, the stunt went completely unnoticed.

Following the skydiving scene, the film will show Tom passing the flag to other Olympians—including a cyclist, skateboarder, and volleyball player—as they make their way around Los Angeles, the next host city for the Summer Games.

Logistics for the stunt in France are still in development as the Closing Ceremony is set for August 11. Given the complexity of the stunt, the report suggests that a stunt double may be used for the rappelling scene.

Tom, who has been in Paris for the games, has been seen making several appearances over the past week, joining a host of Hollywood stars including Steven Speilberg, Margot Roobie, Lady Gaga and others as they watched the athletes compete.

TMZ states that the actor has been the driving force behind this elaborate plan. He approached the International Olympic Committee with the idea of performing a series of stunts to bridge the Paris and L.A. Games.

Back in 2004, Cruise helped carry the torch through Los Angeles as part of a relay across the globe ahead of the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
