And so, the not very subtle conversion begins. When la famille Beckham wake up in LA today some nice little runarounds will be waiting for them in their driveway: a Bentley Continental GT Convertible, tastefully adorned with VB logos on the headrests and wheel centre caps, as well as a specially built Cadillac Escalade with the number 23 on the front grille and decorative side rests, a stylistic adornment also seen on the Lincoln Navigator, which arrived first.
Now, where could these cars have come from?
Has Rebecca Loos come back on the seen and Becks has been doing some heavy apologising? Is the Oscar committee sending some preliminary prizes to the couple before their inevitable move into the movie industry? Or maybe a great big kiss of gratitude from Nicole Richie to Victoria for adding a bit of spice to the competition of "who can be the thinnest woman in LA?", a contest that Nicole was winning with tedious regularity and might, in Victoria, now find a worthy competitor to step up the pace a bit?
No. Obviously, they are a "Welcome to LA [and now join the Thetans]" present from the Beckhams' great pal, Tom Cruise. Why, ain't that just the sweetest thing you ever heard? Like, isn't it totally non-scary, non-pushy and with absolutely no obvious underlying bullying message? Rumours that the radio stations in the cars are all permanently tuned to Radio Thetan have yet to be confirmed, as does the suggestion that mind altering substances are emitted through the car's air conditioning.
Total cost of Cruise's present? A mere $400,000. But who can put a price on securing such valuable heads to cause?
Tip to Tom: we reckon David might be pretty pliable but VB could put up a bit more of a fight. May as well play it safe and get her a monogrammed Roller to boot.
