Nicole went on: "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them. And I am an example of that tolerance and that's what I believe - that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here."

The actress said she is "very private" about her relationships with her two eldest children.

"I have to protect all those relationships," Nicole explained. "I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."

While Nicole has rarely spoken publicly about the Church of Scientology, Leah Remini, who spent 30 years as a member before her exit, previously described the actress as her 'Guardian Angel'.

In Leah's book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, she wrote: "During this confusing early period, I sometimes felt adrift.

"But I had one figure I kept front and center in my mind to keep from going crazy: Nicole Kidman. That’s right, Tom Cruise’s ex was my guardian angel. Although I never met her or attempted to meet her, I thought about her a lot."
