Tom Crawford set for Notts County return after Wembley heartbreak

Notts County midfielder Tom Crawford will return to Meadow Lane following his loan spell from AFC Fylde which ended with Wembley heartbreak.

The midfielder was part of the Fylde squad which missed out on promotion to the Football League having lost the National League play-off final to Salford at the weekend.

Graham Alexander’s side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners as Crawford started the game on the bench but came on for the last 16 minutes of the defeat.

The former Chester player had joined Fylde on loan until the end of the season in the January transfer window in the hope he would get regular first-team football.

He scored twice during his time in the north west having made six starts in the league with another two coming from the substitutes’ bench.

He also played in the cup competitions with four of those appearances also coming as a substitute.

The 19-year-old will now hope he can force his way into Notts’ first team next season having only had a brief taste of life in a black and white shirt since arriving from Chester last summer.

But he does have one goal to his name having scored against Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup at the start of the season.
