Tom Crawford attracting interest from Notts County's National League rivals

Tom Crawford is attracting interest from Notts County's National League rivals Chesterfield and Hartlepool as well as his former club Chester.

The midfielder was released by the Magpies on Tuesday after their bid to return to the Football League was ended by Harrogate Town in the play-off final on Sunday.

But according to Cheshire Live, the former Stoke player is in demand with the Spireites and Pools both chasing the playmaker.

Chester would also like to sign him but given they are in the division below, their chances of landing him look remote.

Crawford struggled to break into Neal Ardley's first team in the first half of the season, but began to force his way into his plans before lockdown having scored in the 2-0 win at National League champions Barrow.

He also scored in Notts' 5-0 FA Trophy quarter-final win over Aveley at Meadow Lane.

Crawford was one of five players to be released by Notts, a list that included midfielder Mitch Rose, defender Zoumana Bakayogo,  midfielder Regan Booty and striker Scott Wilson.

Contracts have been offered to captain Michael Doyle, Richard Brindley, Kristian Dennis, Michael Doyle, Dion Kelly-Evans, Alex Lacey, Joe McDonnell and Sam Osborne.

The club is also preparing to make its first additions in the transfer market and a signing could be unveiled this week.
