Tom Clare hails 'once in a lifetime experience' but rules out Love Island return

Love Island star Tom Clare has described his experience as "once in a lifetime" but insists he does not want to return to the reality dating show.

Former semi-professional footballer Tom, 23, became a huge hit with viewers during the winter series of the popular ITV2 show earlier this year, especially his roller coaster romance with Samie Elishi.

Tom and Samie eventually came third on this year’s Love Island – losing out on the top spot to winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan. Second place went to Lara Jenkins and Ron Hall.

Season 10 of the hit show is currently under way in the spiritual home of Majorca and following the return of Adam Collard in series eight and series two star Kady McDermott set to feature in the coming weeks, Tom was asked if he would entertain the idea.

In an interview with The Sun, he said: "No, It’s not for me that.

"It’s a once in a lifetime experience and I think if I went back in, I don’t know how it would work.

"It’s just not for me, I’ve done it now, best thing I’ve ever done, so I want to keep it that way. I wouldn’t want to go back in and ruin it."

Tom and Samie were the only couple out of the final four not to be in a relationship when they left the villa, but they did not wait long to become official.

However, the two went their separate ways after only one month of the romance, with the distance between Barnsley-born Tom and Essex girl Samie becoming the deciding factor.

Speaking about the break-up on her YouTube channel, Samie said: "It is intense. Me and Tom have broken up. It's ended on good terms. No one's done anything bad to each other, there's still lots and lots of love there. It just wasn't working on the outside and we both agreed on the majority of the things.

"There's no bad blood there, me and Tom. I would never say a bad word about him and he wouldn't about me."

Samie continued: "We just weren't working on the outside. I feel like when you come out of the villa you've got so much pressure and so many other things to worry about that plays a huge factor in a relationship.

"It was just a lot more difficult to maintain outside of the villa."

Tom has recently moved in with fellow Islander Casey O'Gorman, 26, in London as rumours of him rekindling with Samie intensify.

The former couple were seen going to the same hotel following the film premiere of No Hard Feelings last week.
