Tom Brown launches Sunday Sessions at Cornerstone with mentor Nathan Outlaw

Chef-of-the-moment Tom Brown is launching a new series of collaboration lunches by teaming up with his former mentor, seafood maestro Nathan Outlaw.

Sunday Sessions – which will see the Cornerstone chef join forces with big-name chefs and friends – will take place once a month at Brown’s Hackney Wick restaurant. Further cooking stars confirmed on the line-up include Tom Kerridge, Sabor’s Nieves Barragan Mohacho, Black Axe Mangal’s Lee Tiernan, Birmingham-based chef Brad Carter and Gareth Ward of Ynyshir in mid-Wales.

The first lunch will run on February 16 and see Michelin-starred chef Outlaw enter the kitchen. A former protege of Outlaw, Brown got his big break on the London restaurant scene when he was made head chef at Michelin-starred restaurant Outlaw’s at The Capital.

“Everything we do here at Cornerstone is thanks to Nathan and I am beyond excited to cook with him again,” said Brown. “Who better to kick off Sunday Sessions than the seafood Jedi himself?”

Outlaw will be cooking his personal take on a fish pie, featuring capers and a soft-boiled egg, while Brown will cook signature starters from his restaurant including his “sea-cuterie”, a dish of mackerel pate with treacle bread, and grey mullet tartare with egg yolk, seaweed and soy.

Tickets to the Sunday Sessions lunches will cost £100 per person, and will include entry to an after party at Allegra, the acclaimed restaurant at nearby, recently opened The Stratford hotel. Guests will be able to enjoy a gin and tonic with dinner, but can add wine pairings for a further £50 per person.

Sunday Sessions at Cornerstone will start on February 16 at 3 Prince Edward Road, E9 5LX. Tickets for the Nathan Outlaw lunch go on sale on February 2 at cornerstonehackney.com
