Leeds Rhinos will face Hull FC in a pre-season friendly next month which will double up as Tom Briscoe's testimonial match, the two clubs have confirmed.
Briscoe has been awarded a three-month testimonial by the Rugby Football League following his services to the game, which has seen him represent both the Rhinos and the Black and Whites, as well as England. He is preparing for his 15th season as a professional in 2022.
Briscoe has a number of events planned for his testimonial but the headline act will be a game between his current employers and the club with whom he started his career in 2008, when Hull travel to Headingley on Sunday January 30, with a 3pm kick-off.
The Rhinos' pre-season matches begin in under two weeks, when they face local rivals Wakefield Trinity in the traditional Boxing Day meeting of the two sides.
A week after the Hull clash, Leeds will travel to Hunslet for another pre-season clash - though the Rhinos have traditionally sent a youthful side across the city for that meeting with the League 1 side.
Tickets for the Hull game will go on sale from 10am on Thursday morning.
“I would like to thank the RFL for granting my testimonial and I’m looking forward to it," Briscoe said when his testimonial was confirmed in September. Over the years, I have been involved with a number of players’ testimonials here at Leeds and I know the Rhinos fans are always very supportive.
"I am very proud of our sport of Rugby League and it has been a privilege to be involved at the highest level for nearly 20 years. Hopefully, during my three-month testimonial, it will give me an opportunity to also thank those people who have made my career possible with a number of events planned.”
