Tom Brady was so disgusted with TNF referees that he turned off the game

Tom Brady was done with Thursday Night Football before the end of the second quarter.

The New England Patriots quarterback was watching the game between Jacksonville and Tennessee in Week 3, but had to shut off his TV when he saw the officials throw a flag against Titans defensive end Kamalei Correa for roughing the passer, Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew. The iffy penalty came on a Minshew incompletion in the second quarter on a first-and-10. That’s when Brady tweeted: “I’m turning off this game I can’t watch these ridiculous penalties anymore”

Coincidentally, Brady was the beneficiary of overprotective officiating in Week 2 when Bill Vinovich told Dolphins linebacker Raekwon McMillan to “stay off Tom” after a relatively small hit to the quarterback.

Correa’s penalty followed a first quarter when there were six total penalties, including four penalties for offensive holding calls, one for an illegal block above the waist and one for offensive pass interference. That’s when Brady began to get heated.

Brady’s comments invited conversation on the NFL Network broadcast. After seeing Brady’s tweet, broadcast analyst Troy Aikman admitted he also thought the penalties were getting ridiculous. Twitter chimed in.

Of course, Brady might not be too angry if he is the beneficiary of a roughing the passer penalty in the coming weeks.
