New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady sent well-wishes to David Ortiz on Monday after reports that the Boston Red Sox star was in the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds on Sunday in the Dominican Republic.
Brady shared a photo of he and Ortiz high-fiving. Brady wrote: “Papi defines Boston Strong… get well soon my friend!!!”
While the situation is tragic, the most recent updates have been optimistic.
“(Ortiz’s family) got back to me this morning. Stable, recovering, and it looks like everything is going to be OK,” former Red Sox infielder Will Middlebrooks said Monday morning on CBS Sports HQ after speaking to Ortiz’s wife, Tiffany. “… As it looks right now, surgery went well, from what I’m being told. He’s got a little bit of recovery ahead of him, but he’s going to be OK.”
