Tom Brady brings a ton of perspective to the NFL.
His experience and longevity in the league gives him a mental database to work with that ultimately benefits those around him. Of course, he can be the goofy player that jokes around on social media. But, he carries thoughts on the league that can shape the future how of the sport advances.
Brady spoke alongside a few teammates during a “players chat” for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers website and elaborated on the difficulty of being a defensive player currently.
“A quarterback should only throw the ball to certain places, because your receiver is in danger of getting hit,” Brady said, transcribed by Pro Football Talk. “For example, when I used to play against Ray Lewis, I wouldn’t throw the ball to the middle of the field because he would . . . hit them and knock them out of the game. And now, every hard hit is a penalty on the defense. So I feel like they penalize defensive players for offensive mistakes.”
The 44-year-old continued to explain why the game is being diluted because of this shift.
