FOXBOROUGH, Mass. _ Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was scheduled to see his first action of the preseason against the Bears on Thursday but never made it onto the field for warmups. According to a report from Comcast SportsNet New England, Brady cut himself with a pair of scissors while attempting to pry something from the bottom of his cleats before the game.
Not only didn't Brady start or play, he was sent home from Gillette Stadium.
Jimmy Garoppolo started for the Patriots and went 16-for-21 for 181 yards over six possessions, five in the first half.
Garoppolo drilled a 16-yard touchdown pass into the chest of tight end A.J. Derby on his final pass before halftime, then hit Chris Hogan for the two-point conversion to give the Patriots a 17-11 lead.
