On Thursday, Tom Brady sent NFL fans into a frenzy when he tweeted a cryptic, black-and-white photo of him walking through a tunnel at Gillette Stadium. There was no caption and no follow-up tweet.
All it did was have fan guessing what Brady could have possibly been signaling as rumors swirled about the Patriots quarterback’s NFL future. Was he retiring? Leaving the Patriots? What did it mean?!
Well, it turned out that Brady was just messing with us all … and profiting.
During the first half of Sunday’s Super Bowl 54 between the Chiefs and 49ers, Brady’s tunnel walk ended up being the lead-in to a Hulu Super Bowl ad. Take a look:
We should have seen that coming in today’s brand-leveraged, corporate age.
But, yeah, Brady got us. He got us good.
