The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a legendary victory parade after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV to clinch the franchise’s second league championship.
Part of what made that victory parade go viral was quarterback Tom Brady’s infamous Lombardi Trophy toss, where he flung the championship trophy to another boat.
Brady appeared on Friday’s episode of HBO’s The Shop: Uninterrupted, where he discussed a myriad of topics, including that viral trophy toss back in February.
Brady recalled how this was the first victory parade where it wasn’t 30 degrees outside, which left a somewhat sobering effect. Down in Tampa, the atmosphere allowed Brady to enjoy the moment a little more.
“It was fun,” Brady said. “I had been in the Northeast for 20 years. So it’s like freezing cold when we won and it was like 38 (degrees). We were freezing by the end of the parade like, ‘Get me home!’
“This one we’re on a boat. It’s 85 degrees. We’re drinking tequila all day. I’ve got the Super Bowl trophy in my hand. I’m in my boat. Chelsea’s where the other boat is and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m going to throw it to my boys over there.’ So I throw it and the bottom of this trophy is sharp. It could’ve gone so bad.”

While it could’ve gone horribly bad, Brady completed the pass — like he’s completed countless others — to tight end Cameron Brate, which seemed to make Brady’s seventh Super Bowl parade the best yet.
