Tom Brady opens up on retired life after quitting NFL "for good" and signing $375m deal

Tom Brady is enjoying time with his family as the seven-time Super Bowl champion is ‘staying pretty busy’ after calling time on his illustrious career earlier this year.

Back in February, Brady announced he was retiring from the NFL ‘for good’ after a 23-year career with the New England Patriots - where he led a historic dynasty alongside head coach Bill Belichick and owner Rob Kraft - and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His decision came following a torrid 2022 campaign in which the seven-time Super Bowl champion suffered the collapse of his personal life as he divorced ex-wife Gisele Bundchen, while his Bucs struggled on the field as they finished 8-9.

Last year, Fox Sports announced Brady would join the network as a lead analyst following his retirement after he signed a 10-year contract worth $375million (£306m). Brady has reportedly informed the broadcaster he will get to work in the booth in the 2024 season, giving himself a year away from the game to get used to retirement.

Since walking away from the NFL, Brady has spent time with his children, Jack - from his previous relationship with actor and model Bridget Moynahan - as well as Benjamin and Vivian. Brady appears to be enjoying the new chapter of his life without the NFL as he was in attendance at Fanatics’ Merch Madness giveaway, which aimed to benefit more than 100,000 underserved families.

The 45-year-old was in Miami alongside Baltimore Ravens wideout Odell Beckham Jr., and he spoke to PEOPLE about his first offseason without football for over two decades. He said: “I’m taking it every day just one day at a time.

“I love my time with my family and trying to get some work things done. I'm still staying pretty busy.”

Brady also discussed an event at Carver Ranches Boys and Girls Club in Florida, where he played touch football with kids. The iconic former quarterback admitted: “We were having fun. I think I broke a sweat. It's the most footballs I've thrown in about eight months.”

Brady took his children to Greece recently and enjoyed a trip around Europe rather than preparing for another NFL season. He revealed there were more vacations ahead, and expressed gratitude at being able to spend time with his family.

“It's funny, this month is already almost over so they're almost halfway through the summer and they're back to school in August,” Brady said. “Just spending quality time with them.” He added: “We have some travels coming up, some family vacations.”

Brady retired from the NFL after 23 seasons, four MVPs and seven Super Bowl titles following a dismal season which saw his Buccaneers immediately eliminated from the playoffs at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys.
