Tom Brady, Michael Bennett, Sony Michel among Patriots absent from OTAs

During the New England Patriots’ third session of organized team activities on Thursday, they were without a handful of starters, none more notable than quarterback Tom Brady. This is the second consecutive season he has elected to skip the voluntary practices.

Safety Patrick Chung and Nate Ebner, running backs Sony Michel and Nick Brosette, tackles Yodny Cajuste and Isaiah Wynn, receiver Demaryius Thomas, defensive end Michael Bennett, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, punter Ryan Allen and defensive end Deatrich Wise were also absent. Chung, however, was present on Tuesday session, per a video posted on the Patriots’ social media accounts.

Bennett tends to skip these voluntary sessions, instead working out on his own. Wynn and Thomas are recovering from Achilles injuries. Seferian-Jenkins’ absence is excused for personal reasons, per a source. Cajuste is dealing with a shoulder injury. Wise is dealing with a foot or ankle issue. It’s unclear why Ebner, Brosette and Allen were missing.
