Tom Brady lands on Madden NFL 18 cover

New England Patriots quarterback and five-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady will be on the cover of Madden NFL 18, the latest installment of one of Electronic Arts' most popular titles.

The game is built in EA's Maitland, Fla., office, which employs roughly 700 people.

Brady, who on Feb. 5 engineered a 25-point fourth-quarter comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, called it a "great honor" and addressed the cover curse.

Since the franchise first started placing athletes on the game's cover in 2001 _ Tennessee Titans' running back Eddie George was the first _ some have noticed that some cover athletes don't do so well the following season.

"I'm not one to believe in curses, so I'm ready to take the challenge head on like always!" he said in a release. "It doesn't stand a chance!!"

Brady's teammate, tight end Rob Gronkowski, was on the cover last year. Brady's selection marks the first time teammates have been on the cover in back-to-back years.

The game will officially launch on Aug. 25 on all platforms.

More details on the game are expected to be revealed during Electronic Arts' own game conference, known as EA Play, on June 10.

Early access will be available for Electronic Arts rewards members or for those who select a version of the game that gets them a Madden Ultimate Team player card.
