Tom Brady has a career that’s nearly impossible to reconcile with other quarterbacks, even when you compare him to the Hall of Famers he’ll join once he actually, for-realsies retires.
He’s won more Super Bowls than anyone else. He’s thrown for more passing yards and touchdowns than any quarterback, ever. No one has more playoff wins, and no one is particularly close in any of these categories thanks to two decades as one of the game’s best players.
He’s so prolific, his career numbers stack up even if relegated to his stats to solely games played after turning 40 years old, a point by which the vast majority of NFL players have retired. Inspired by this Reddit post — thanks u/RecordReviewer — I set out to find the other notable quarterbacks Brady has out-played since becoming a quadragenarian.
In five seasons in his 40s, Brady has earned 60 regular season victories and won 10 playoff games. His 22,938 passing yards would rank 92nd-best all-time and are more than players like Michael Vick, Sam Bradford and Jim McMahon had in their careers. He’s thrown 168 touchdown passes over that span. While comparing modern era quarterbacks to the guys who played in a run-heavy league where pass interference was called only alongside probable cause for wideout assault, it’s remarkable to see the players he’s passed at an age where most of his contemporaries are long retired.
Let’s dive in and see who Brady’s passed on the all-time list when we solely count his 168 — for now — touchdown throws.
