Tom Brady congratulates Drew Brees on TD record, but seems ready for a chase

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady probably didn’t mind seeing the fall of the records of his longstanding rival, retired Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Brady congratulated New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on passing Manning’s career passing touchdown record (539) on Monday Night Football in Week 15.

But Brady doesn’t want to Brees to get too comfortable.

“Congrats drew!! Couldn’t be more deserving,” Brady wrote on Twitter after Brees hit 540 passing touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts in New Orleans. “Passing Peyton in anything is an incredible achievement and your records will be tough to beat! But it’s worth trying.”

Brady’s passing touchdown total stands at 538, one away from Manning.

Brees is putting together another brilliant season with a strong supporting cast. Brady, meanwhile, has struggled slightly. If Brady wants to surpass Brees, the Patriots quarterback is probably going to have to outlast the Saints signal-caller.
