Toll surges to double-digit in Pune Metropolitan Region; Covid cases drop to 7,708

PUNE: Ten people succumbed to Covid-related complications in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Monday, its highest single-day toll since October 3, 2021, when 11 deaths were recorded. Besides, day’s detections dropped to 7,708 in the region, while recoveries climbed up to 5,215.

Among the new cases, the PMC limits added 3,959, followed by PCMC areas and the rural parts (1,384). As for recoveries 3,067 patients were discharged in the PMC limits, while PCMC and rural areas saw 1,271 and 899 discharges, respectively. Sample testing dropped to 32,999 on Monday as against Sunday’s 39,324. As many as 15,630 samples were tested in the PMC limits, 11,674 in the PCMC limits and 5,695 in the rural and cantonment areas.

A report released by district health officer Bhagwan Pawar stated that region’s active case count increased included over 60,000 patients in home isolation and 2,190 in hospital. The total death count reached 19,302 on Monday evening.
