Three Keys to a Colorado State Victory

1. Rally Together

With Collin Hill out after yet another ACL injury, head coach Mike Bobo has options under center. He can go with either the pocket passer with some limited experience (Patrick O’Brien) or the dual-threat option (Justice McCoy). Either way, it will be the offensive line that has to rally and open holes for running back Marvin Kinsey because, no matter who takes the snaps, Colorado State cannot rely on the quarterback to win them the game offensively. The running game will be the major factor if Colorado State wins.

2. HOLD

Not that kind of hold, just HOLD ON TO THE BALL. The Rams have turned the ball over eight times in three games. With a newbie at the controls of the offense, it’s safe to say that Colorado State is good for at least one turnover, but they have to limit it to that. Turnovers = loses.

3. Complete

Colorado State has to play a complete game. They haven’t done it yet in three games and if there ever was a time to put it all together, it is this game against Toledo. It’s the last chance to eliminate the mistakes before conference play and Toledo is no pushover. The Rockets took an SEC school (Kentucky) to the wire in Week 1 and blew out Murray State last week in their home opener. Colorado State will need to put together a complete game for all four quarters if they want to win and that means doing the little things like holding onto the ball, tackling and not hurting themselves with penalties.
