Told to stop smoking, goons fire in eatery in Jaipur

JAIPUR: Police arrested seven persons on Sunday, a day after they had allegedly fired inside a food court near Riddhi Siddhi Marg and vandalised shops when stopped from smoking.

DCP, South, Mridul Kachawa said that the seven accused have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the case.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act and IPC Sections including Section 307 (attempt to murder).

Shipra Path SHO, Mahaveer Singh Rathore said that the accused have been identified as Girish Pratap (22) a resident of Nadbai in Bharatpur, Amit Solanki (23), a native of Halena in Bharatpur, Saurabh Kasana (18), a resident of Kherli in Bharatpur, Manish Kumar (21) a resident of Weir in Bharatpur, Rajat Solanki (22) and Om Prakash both residents of Bharatpur and Dinesh Singh (24), a native of Alwar district.

Police said they had received a call at 11.30 pm on Saturday about a ruckus outside a food court. About 10 to 15 youths, armed with sticks, were attacking shopkeepers and vandalising their shops.

Police found that Manish, Rajat and Saurabh had a scuffle with a shopkeeper over smoking inside the food court. Rajat called up his friends, who came to the spot and fired at the shopkeepers.

Rathore said multiple teams were constituted with a specific aim to track down the suspects who opened fire.

"The accused took it as an insult when stopped and hence fired two shots, one of which hit a shop inside the food court," Rathore said, adding that police are searching for two other suspects, identified as Hitesh alias Mintu Faujdar and Jatin Faujdar.
