Told off for stalking girl, youth flings snake into her house at night

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kattakada police in Andhra Pradesh on Monday arrested a youth on charges of attempting to murder a family by leaving a snake inside their house.

The arrested person was identified as Kichu, 28, a resident of Ambalathinkala. According to police, the family of Raveendran heard a noise on Sunday midnight and noticed a snake being flung inside the house through the window.

The police found the two-wheeler of Kichu parked near the house at the time when the incident occurred.

He may have left the two-wheeler in panic and run away, police said. He is being questioned. It is learnt that Kichu harboured a grudge against Ravindran and his family after being warned against stalking his daughter.

Police said that he may have acted with an intention to kill the family using the snake, but more details would emerge only after further questioning.

The police found remnants of the snake from the house.

The police did not confirm whether the snake was poisonous and said that they need to cross check the type of snake. Rural SP D Shilpa said that there was a motive to murder and more details cannot be revealed since the investigation was underway. The family had filed a complaint against Kichu. Ravindran`s family said that they did not wish to talk about the incident.
