Tokyo World: Clean up operation under way after 40,000 people attend Bristol festival

A clean up operation is underway after thousands of festivalgoers descended on a Bristol park this weekend for Tokyo World.

The event - dubbed by organisers as its “most incredible yet” - welcomed around 40,000 people to Eastville Park, who enjoyed sets from the likes of Faithless and Burna Boy.

Images shared on a local Facebook group show the park littered with bottles, cans and nitrous oxide cylinders this morning, which have since been cleared by local authorities.

Pictures taken by a Bristol Live reporter show the barriers at the festival being taken down at around 11am today (Monday, September 20), although it’s understood the main gates to the festival are still up at the time of writing. You can see our live broadcast here.

Eastville residents complained of “mess” on the streets this morning, however others said a “fantastic job” had been done to clear it.

It comes as no major incidents were reported at the festival according to the emergency services.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “Pleased to report there were no incidents over the weekend connected with Tokyo World.”

Tokyo World organisers have been approached for comment.
