Tokyo confirmed 276 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Monday, the metropolitan government said.
The figure was the first below 300 since Dec. 7 when the capital logged 299 cases. On Monday, the number of seriously ill people dropped seven to 104 from the previous day.
According to the metropolitan government, the average number of new infections over the past week was 555.3 per day, 67.9% of the previous week's daily average of 818.
