Tokyo Tower, which has been closed since April 8 due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, was illuminated to celebrate its reopening on Thursday. The one-day illumination's theme of being "the light of hope" contained a wish to restore Tokyo's tourism, and featured light shining in eight colors such as red, blue and yellow.
In order to avoid the "Three C's" -- closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact environments -- visitors were recommended to use the external stairs to reach the main deck, 150 meters above the ground. By 5 p.m. that day, over 800 people visited the tower.
