Towers in 11 cities nationwide, including Tokyo Tower, Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka, and Sapporo TV Tower, were illuminated in blue Monday night to show their gratitude to medical workers who are fighting the new coronavirus.

The movement to color architecture in blue to honor medical workers is spreading around the globe.

The word "Arigato" (Thank you) was projected onto Tokyo Tower's observation deck. The tower will be illuminated until May 2 between sunset and midnight.
