Tokyo-style racing circuit with fast electric go-karts to open in UK

State-of-the-art go-karting is coming to the north of England for the very first time. Revellers in Yorkshire will be able to experience high-speed, all-electric, Tokyo-style racing on a multi-level track.

The new facility is coming to the Xscape leisure complex in Castleford, YorkshireLive reports. The £2 million spectacle includes a neon-lit track designed by racetrack driving professionals, complete with hills and banked corners.

Due to the karts running on batteries there are no petrol fumes and fireproof overalls are not necessary. And a lack of petrol does not mean a lack of speed as the attraction is promising the 'most high-powered e-Karts on the market'. Two-seater karts also allow children to drive safely in tandem with older partners.

Harvey Jenkinson, co-founder and CEO of Gravity at Xscape, said: "This is the next generation pleasure leisure-easy clean, bright, racing fun and doable on a whim. We opened our very first trampolining offer at Xscape Yorkshire back in 2015, so it’s fitting to be bringing the e-karts to Xscape Yorkshire, the first in the North.

"If you’re into your karting, you will absolutely love this as the tracks are designed by professional racing experts and the karts really fly. No more stalled engines and the need for a push start. If you’re new to it, there are no worries about bulky suits and bruised backs, just adrenaline-fuelled fun with friends and family."

The raceway opens on October 21. You can book tickets now.
