Tokyo Skytree was lit up Friday night with a message saying, "TOGETHER WE CAN ALL WIN!" amid the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

The message was displayed on the tower's observation deck, which is located 350 meters above the ground.

According to Tobu Tower Skytree Co., the operator of the landmark in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, this laser mapping is intended to encourage the world to stand united against the spread of the virus. A special blue lighting pattern, which conjures up the image of the Earth, has also been used.

The special lighting program can be viewed from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will last through April 5. The laser mapping could be canceled by bad weather.

Following a request from the Tokyo metropolitan government that people refrain from going out this weekend, Tokyo Solamachi, a commercial facility located at the base of Tokyo Skytree, has temporarily closed on Saturday and Sunday.
