Tokyo Skytree in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, will reopen its doors on June 1 with infection control measures in place to avoid the "Three C's" -- closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact environments. Tobu Tower Skytree Co., which operates the facility, made the announcement of the tower's reopening after three months on Friday.

For the time being, opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. -- two hours shorter than usual. The company will request that visitors wear masks, except pre-primary school children. They will also refuse to let a visitor enter the facility if their temperature is 37.5 C or higher. In addition, the company will limit the number of people at the observation deck to between 20% and 30% less than usual by taking measures such as operating only two elevators out of the four and only allowing about half of the usual number of people to ride an elevator at one time.

Staff members of the company have been preparing for the reopening by setting up acrylic plates at the information center and confirming whether the thermography works properly to check visitors' temperature. Staff also posted notices urging people not to make crowds and to avoid close contact with each other. "We want visitors to have fun since we are preparing thoroughly to prevent the spread of infection," said a member of the company.

The reservation system, except for group reservations, will resume on the official website at noon on June 8. Until then, visitors can enter the facility with a same-day ticket.
